General / Autonomous Vessel Operations
Gulf of America - Autonomous Vessel Testing --- --- Autonomous surface vessels (ASVs), alongside escort vessels, will conduct daily tests in the Gulf of America, east of the Chandeleur Islands. The operating area will be bound by approximate positions: 30-01.82N 088-44.60W, 30-01.82N 088-13.42W, 29-34.82N 088-13.42W and 29-34.82N 088-44.47W. An escort vessel will remain within 500 meters of the autonomous vessels at all times. ASVs will operate in the area with the following schedule: • 16SEP2026 - 31OCT2026: M/V SEA ARCHER • Additional on-scene vessels may include the M/Vs GUNSLINGER and MARLIN MUJER, and R/Vs SEA INNOVATOR and KEN BARBOR. Mariners are requested to maintain a 1.5 nautical mile closest point of approach from the ASV SEA ARCHER and can contact one of the escort vessels for additional information during the operation.
