COLUMBIA RIVER - VANCOUVER TO BONNEVILLE General / Marine Construction (Excluding Bridges) / Boring and Core Samples The Interstate Bridge Replacement Program will be conducting geotechnical investigations west of the existing Interstate 5 Bridge across the Columbia River between Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR at Columbia (RM 106.5) from 02 Nov 2026 – 31 Jan 2027. The work will infringe on the Alternate Barge Channel South, Alternative Barge Channel North, and the Vancouver to The Dalles Channel (lift span). The Tug South Creek and Barge Mark 12 will be on station and will reduce available horizontal clearances. The normal amount of horizontal clearance available at these channels will be reduced, and vessels are advised to use alternate channels if horizontal clearance is not sufficient in the channels. Only one channel will be reduced at any one time. Mariners are requested to maintain an appropriate distance and create no wake within 200 feet. Tug operator will be monitoring VHF Channels 13 and 16. During non-working hours the barge will remain on station with al-round white lights on all 4 corners, pursuant to CFR 83.30. Additional work will take place at other locations in the main stem Columbia River but will not infringe on the designated navigation channels on the main Columbia River. There will be no infringement on the available vertical clearances and no changes to the operation of the lift span. For more information, contact Mark Marine Services at 360-772-0916.
