MSIB 32-26 - Potential Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Hazard Gulf of America - Fort Pickens, FL --- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is conducting feasibility studies under the CERCLA process to assess hazards associated with historical munitions to include potential unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the vicinity of Fort Pickens, Pensacola, FL. Due to historical usage of this area, the U.S. Coast Guard advises mariners of potential UXOs located within the Gulf of America and Pensacola Bay, near Santa Rosa Island, Fort Pickens, FL. UXOs should be considered extremely dangerous. If touched, moved, or disturbed, these items may detonate, causing severe injury, death, or property damage. Mariners are strongly urged not to anchor or conduct any bottom-disturbing activities within High Use Areas (HUA) and should exercise caution when conducting activities in the Low Use Areas (LUA). Reference diagrams, provided in the hard copy version of MSIB 32-26, identify Low Use Areas (LUA) in green and High Use Areas (HUA) in orange. If a mariner encounters a UXO, please contact 911 to report the location that it was found. Concerned parties may report any hazardous conditions to the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Mobile Command Center at (251) 266-5888.
