Gulf of America - Autonomous Vessel Operation --- --- An autonomous ocean glider will conduct survey and ocean data collection in the Gulf of America, in an area bound by approximate positions: 29-22.61N 087-24.69W, 29-53.97N 086-55.92W and 29-30.23N 086-32.95W. Operations will be conducted 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. The ocean glider will operate at a max speed of 0.5 knots and will primarily work underwater, surfacing every three hours for approximately three to four minutes before continuing subsea work. Mariners are urged to transit the area with caution and provide a wide berth when the glider has temporarily surfaced.
