TANGIER SOUND - UPPER THOROFARE ATON / Proposed Notice of Change Location: 38-10.18N 075-56.92W Aid Name: Upper Thorofare Channel Daybeacon 6 LLNR: 23570 Action: CHANGE Action Type Change Aid Subtype Due to the continual shoaling further up the Upper Thorofare channel The Coast Guard is proposing to convert Upper Thorofare Channel Daybeacon 6 (LLNR 23570) to Upper Thorofare Warning Daybeacon B with NW dayboards worded “Danger Shoal” until removed by contract. Interested Mariners and other stakeholders are strongly encouraged to comment on the potential impacts this proposal would have on navigational safety. All comments will be carefully considered and are requested prior to December 25, 2026 to be considered in the analysis. Refer to project number 05-27-003(D).
