LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER - UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER
General / Marine Construction (Excluding Bridges) / Dredging
Continuing until November 1, 2026, the Dredge POTTER will be conducting dredging operations at the Lower Chain of Rocks Canal Entrance, in the vicinity of Mile 184.1. Operations will be conducted from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m., 7-days a week. The river will be closed during working hours. Dredge POTTER and the attendant plant include tender boats, small boats, barges and pipeline. Dredged material will be pumped through a pontoon pipeline, which may be crossing the channel, and is placed outside of the navigation channel. Mariners should be on the lookout for tender boats, barges, small survey boats, and pontoon pipeline when transiting the dredge area. For passing arrangements, Dredge POTTER can be contacted on VHF-FM Channel 13 or 16. L/D Nr. 27 will manage the traffic queue and can be contacted via VHF-FM Channel 12. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
