LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER - UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER
General / Marine Construction (Excluding Bridges) / Dredging
Commencing September 27, 2026, and continuing until October 2, 2026, the Dredge GOETZ will be conducting dredging operations at the Upper Chain of Rocks Canal Entrance, in the vicinity of Mile 194.1. Operations will be conducted from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., 7-days a week. The river will be closed to navigation during working hours. Dredge GOETZ and the attendant plant include tender boats, small boats, barges and pipeline. Dredged material will be pumped through a pontoon pipeline, which may be crossing the channel, and is placed outside of the navigation channel. Mariners should be on the lookout for project vessels when transiting the dredge area. For passing arrangements, Dredge GOETZ can be contacted on VHF-FM Channel 13 or 16. L/D Nr. 27 will manage the traffic queue and can be contacted via VHF-FM Channel 12. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
