Atchafalaya River - Little Island Pass - Stouts Pass - Temporary ATON Discontinuation --- Reported: 2026-05-18 --- Little Island Pass has undergone a phased discontinuation as a transitable waterway. The pass is utilized as a dredged material placement area and has extremely shallow water. The two temporary white buoys at the north and south entrances to Little Island Pass have been permanently removed from the waterway. The two virtual AIS aids to navigation previously established in the area have been discontinued. Mariners are advised that the water depths for Little Island Pass may not be accurately reflected on the NOAA ENCs. Little Island Pass should not be utilized by any vessel. Mariners are urged to follow the federally marked channel through the Atchafalaya River/Stouts Pass when transiting the area.
