No longer in forceShoaling at the Barra de Esposende has reduced navigability of the Rio Cávado. From 08:00 UTC on 18 Oct 2026 navigation is conditioned by environmental and tidal conditions. Vessels with a draught greater than 0.3 metres may transit the bar only between 3 hours before and 3 hours after high water. The signal mast of the Esposende Lifeboat Station will display daytime and nighttime signals to indicate the restriction.
Vessels with draught greater than 0.3 m may cross the bar only from 3 hours before until 3 hours after high water; observe the signal mast at Esposende and navigate with caution.
