Kolkata (ex Calcutta) port guide
Kolkata Dock System is the river port of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, about 200 km up the Hooghly River from the sea; ship size is limited by the river's depth and the dock locks. It handled 18.84 million tonnes in financial year 2025-26 (April 2025 to March 2026). Larger ships use the authority's Haldia Dock Complex further downstream.
