General / Marine Construction (Excluding Bridges) / Dredging
General/Marine Construction (Excluding Bridges)/Dredging The King Company, Inc. will conduct continuous hydraulic dredging operations in the Grand Haven Inner Federal Channel from October 28, 2026, through December 15, 2026. Dredging will be executed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, weather permitting, utilizing the hydraulic dredge BUXTON II. A submerged sediment pipeline will be positioned along the bottom and demarcated with round orange buoys placed at 500-foot intervals. Two 2 white buoys will mark dredge winch anchor locations on the port and starboard sides of the dredge. During adverse weather conditions, a 25-foot by 8-foot by 6-foot bright yellow pipe pontoon will be moored outside the navigable channel, marked on each end by flashing amber lights displayed from sunset to sunrise. Dredged material will be transferred to an upland disposal facility. The dredge BUXTON II monitors VHF-FM Channels 16, 18, and 73. Mariners are requested to navigate the vicinity with extreme caution, maintain a proper lookout, and pass at slow speed to minimize wake. Direct operational inquiries to Project Superintendent Joseph Martin at 941 628-6783 or The King Company, Inc. main office at 616 399-1784.
