CHESAPEAKE CHANNEL - ANNAPOLIS HARBOR CHANNEL
General / Autonomous Vessel Operations
Scanning and surveying will be conducted in the vicinity of Annapolis Harbor Channel Buoy 14 and Annapolis Harbor Lighted Buoy 2. The project will begin 10 November to 30 June 2027 daily from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. The work will be completed utilizing one 21-ft white vessel operating one autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), towing acoustic and geophysical, or tethered remotely operated vehicle (ROV) with camera equipment. Mariners are requested to maintain a 0.25 nm distance from the site. Vessels approaching the area are requested to hail “Orcinus II” via channel 16 and then shift to channel 13 to coordinate safe passage as required. Orcinus II may require 30 minutes to facilitate recovery of ROV or AUV if deployed and to clear the site if necessary for safe passage of marine traffic. Project POC is Nelson Figeac (757) 288-0374.
