Location: 38-52.48N 077-02.45W Skanska/AECOM (DDOT’s Design-Builder for the I-395NB Bridge Project) will be conducting Geotech boring operations: Arland Dean Williams Junior Memorial Bridge (I-395NB Bridge, Bridge No.170-1). DDOT’s Design-Build team, Skanska, will conduct geotechnical drilling near the navigation channel of the Potomac River, near mile 109.9, to support the rehabilitation of the I-395NB bridge. Work includes multiple borings conducted via a drill rig on a properly-lit spud barge adjacent to the navigation channel near the pier protection dolphins. During boring operations, the barge will remain on-station adjacent to the navigation channel 24/7. Work will take place from on or about November 16, 2026, through February 28, 2027. Temporary aids to navigation will be in place for the duration of the project and the tugboat/workboat will monitor VHF Channels 13 and 16.
